‘Cong poll defeats show people’s real anger’

NEWDELHI: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) brass launched a counter-attack on the Congress on Sunday, with its chief Amit Shah stating the grand-old party’s gathering in Delhi was “nothing but a ‘parivar aakrosh rally’, which highlights their increasing irrelevance”.

Shah led the BJP’s countercharge against the principal Opposition party, stating that “if the Congress wants to see people’s anger, they should see the results of election after election, where their party has been comprehensively defeated across the length and breadth of India”.

Stating that the Congress’s efforts to create divisions in the society were fully exposed, Shah asked the Rahul Gandhi-led party to explain why it didn’t allow the Parliament to function during the second half of the recently concluded budget session.

“Congress must answer why it prevented the formation of an OBC commission that gives justices to backward sections,” said Shah, raking up the debate over the bill that wants to give constitutional status to the Other Backward Class (OBC) panel but has not seen the light of the day.

“I also hope the Congress president apologises to the nation for the party’s efforts to trample over every possible institution in the country just because of their power hungry nature,” Shah tweeted. “A dynasty and their courtiers, who were sent out of state after state by ‘Jan Aadesh’ now pretend to represent ‘Jan Akrosh.’ Today’s Congress rally is nothing but a ‘parivar akrosh rally’ which highlights their increasing irrelevance,” he said in a series of tweets.

The BJP has continued to attack the Congress over the party’s brand of “dynastic politics” and Shah’s comments indicate that in the upcoming polls, the saffron party will continue to raise the issue after Rahul Gandhi became another Nehru-Gandhi family member to become the Congress president.

“During today’s ‘Parivar Akrosh Rally’ you will see abject India-hatred on display. After all, the Congress cannot digest that 125 crore Indians have seen through their anti-development and highly divisive politics. Congress’ efforts to create divisions are fully exposed!” Shah tweeted.
