Children’s books remain centre of attraction on day one of book fair
LUCKNOW: Children’s books remained the centre of attraction on the first day of the Lucknow Book Fair at the Sangeet Natak Akademi in Gomti Nagar on Monday.
The fair is jointly organised by the Lucknow Book Fair and Ankuram Shiksha Mahotsav.
The book fair witnessed participation of the primary and upper primary schools from various districts of the state including Jhansi, Aligarh, Basti, Maharajganj, Etawah, Mathura, Gorkahpur, Kannuaj, Balrampur and Lucknow.
Convenor of Lucknow Book Fair, Manoj Singh said the theme of this year’s fair was ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’.
Leading publishers, distributors and NGOs from across the country are taking part in the fair, said Singh.
Besides, the cultural organisations from New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Gujarat and host Lucknow are also participated in the 10-day long event, he added.
Singh said the organisers were in touch with the faculty of the GD Goenka School and various degree colleges such as Nari Shiksha Niketan, Navyug Kanya Mahavidyalaya and SMS Management College to participate in events that would be

organised during the programme.
On the day, panel discussions were also held on subjects like quality primary education, agriculture and milk, digital initiative, fitness and sports, skill development and others.
Singh said the fair’s committee had also proposed to honour Arunima Sinha, first amputee women to scale Mt Everest and several other high peaks, with Shaan-e-Lucknow Award during the book fair on Tuesday.
