2 brothers killed as van hits motorbike

LUCKNOW: A speeding school van rammed into a motorbike killing two brothers on Sunday night under the PGI police station area.

The deceased were identified as Shailendra Yadav, 35, and Ashutosh Yadav, 30, of Sector 7, Chiraiya Bagh, Vrindavan Colony. The van driver fled from the spot after the accident. “A manhunt was launched to arrest the driver,” said Deepak Kumar, senior superinten­dent of police.

According to cops, Shailendra and Ashutosh, two sons of Misri Lal Yadav, went to attend a marriage function at a community hall in Sector 10, Vrindavan Colony. A dust storm also hit the city late on Sunday night.

When they reached near Vrindavan police outpost, a van of New Standard Public School hit their motorcycle. Such was the impact of the accident that the front portion of the van and the motorcycle were completely damaged. After hearing the bang, cops from the Vrindavan police station reached the spot and rushed the victims to the Trauma Centre, KGMU, where doctors declared them brought dead.

The cops informed family members of the brothers about the accident, who also reached Trauma Centre. Shailendra was married last year and Ashutosh had qualified the sub-inspector’s examinatio­n.

A pall of gloom descended over Vrindavan colony on Monday morning.
