Gaurav, Jitendra excel in C division cricket league

LUCKNOW:Three wickets each by Gaurav Singh and Jitendra Kumar Verma helped Youth Cricket Club advance to the next round of the C division cricket league here on Monday, defeating TCC by 57 runs here.

Gaurav took 3/14, Jitendra had 3/21, and Mukesh Yadav picked up 2/17 as TCC while chasing 143, could make 85/9 in 23.5 overs.

In another knockout match, Sandeep Cricket Academy defeated Lucknow Colts by 13 runs, at the Pt Raas Bihari Tewari Stadium.

Opener Saurabh Mishra scored 60-ball 71, which contained 12 fours and a six as Sandeep Cricket Academy piled up 209/3 in 28 overs after being asked to bat first.

Anurag Pal remained unbeaten at 56, which came off 39 balls with the help of six fours and a six. He was well supported by another unbeate batsman Sandeep Maehrotra, who in his 20-ball 41, smacked five fours and a six.

Later Sandeep excelled with red cherry also, bagging four for 49, whereas Ashwini Yadav had three for 42. Himanshu Vishwakarm­a took two for 34.

Meanwhile, Cricket Associatio­n Lucknow on Monday imposed a three-month ban on Akhil Infra Cricket Club for nonpartici­pation in the final match of a state level cricket tournament recently. CAL also imposed three-month ban on one Ravi Negi of SIC Club for his misconduct at the C division league match.

CAL RED WIN

CAL Red scored a comprehens­ive six-wicket win against Hardoi Cricket Associatio­n in the Under-16 Inter-District Cricket Tournament, at the Northern Railway Stadium here on Monday.

Abhishek Gupta struck highest 40 in 61 balls with the help of seven hits to the fence as HCA could make 92 in 28.1 overs after being sent to bat first.

Prince Maurya took three wickets, whereas Utkarsh Seth and Asif shared four wickets between them.

In reply, CAL Red scored 275 for 4 in 34 overs. Virat Nigam and Aman Singh scored 54 and 53 respective­ly.

CHESS TOURNEY

The three-day Shivani Cup Inter-School Chess Championsh­ip begins on Tuesday, at the Shivani Public School here. The tournament carries a prize money of Rs 50,000.
