Police forces of four states come together to check crime
LUCKNOW: The police force of four neighbouring states (Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan and Delhi) will work in coordination to check crime. An inter-state Crime Secretariat will be established in Gurugram (Haryana) for this purpose.
Addressing a press conference, DIG (Law and Order) Praveen Kumar said the secretariat would coordinate with the police force of the four states to work out crime cases and nab criminals.
An IGP rank officer each from the four states will be posted as nodal officer in the secretariat.
The decision to establish the secretariat was taken in the meeting of chief minister of Haryana Manoharlal Khattar and chief minister Yogi Adityanath in Mathura on February 24.
A police officer said both the chief ministers had discussed better coordination between the police force of the both the states to check crime. Later, it was decided to include Delhi and Rajasthan as well, he said.
The first meeting of the coordination committee was held in Gurugram on Wednesday, in which police officers of the four states participated. From UP ADG (Law and Order) Anand Kumar and ADG (Crime) Chandra Prakash participated in the meeting.
Kumar said, the police force of the four states will coordinate in checking the activities of the inter-state criminals, share the information about the movement of the criminals, vehicle lifters, illegal transportation of cattle, maintain law and order during kanwar yatra, pass information regarding the activities of terrorists, illegal migrants (Bangladeshis and Rohangiyas), launch drive for the arrest of the wanted criminals, check smuggling of illegal weapons, illicit liquor, do joint patrolling, dispose of land disputes, take action in the cases of cybercrime and online fraud.
The meeting of the coordination committee of the four states will be held quarterly.
