Subh Gupta bags U-15 title in school tourney

LUCKNOW: Subh Gupta and Vasundhara emerged champions in the boys under-19 and girls under-15, respective­ly of the Shivani Cup Inter-School Chess Championsh­ip, at the Shivani Public School here on Wednesday. Gaurangi Bahadur Sinha in girls under-11 and Sanyam Srivastava in boys under-7 too captured the titles. Subh finished top with 4.5 points, pushing Raghvanshi Mishra and SDSV Sahu to the second and third spots, respective­ly. Vasanudhar­a fetched highest four points whereas Gaurangi and Sanyam too bagged four points in the respective categories.

At the end of the fifth round in the boys under-11 on Wednesday, Medhansh Saxena with five points leads the table, whereas in boys under-15 Aditya Pant with five points was on top of the table.

STATE AQUATICS

The 34th Sub-Junior State Aquatics Championsh­ip will be held from May 19 to 21, at the Sigra Stadium’s pool in Varanasi. Swimmers/divers selected on the basis of the championsh­ip, would be representi­ng state in the 35th Sub-Junior National Championsh­ip, scheduled to be held from June 24 to 29 in Pune.

Meanwhile, the Junior Championsh­ip is slated to take place at Bareilly from May 26 to 28. This would be followed by the national championsh­ip from May 24 to 29 also at Pune.

Trials to pick regional teams for both the state championsh­ips will be held from May 4 to 7, at the KD Singh ‘Babu’ Stadium here. More details can be had from the Regional Sports Office.

SELECTED

As many as three cricketers from Uttar Pradesh i.e. Aryan Juyal, Mohsin Shaikh and Yasah Dayal have been picked for the under-23 camp to be conducted at the National Cricket Academy from June 25 to July 24 at Bengaluru.

TRIALS

Trials to pick state soft tennis teams will be held on May 5 and 6, at thye Vinaykhand Stadium here. Selected players will participat­e in the 13th Junior National Championsh­ip, scheduled to be held from June 26 to 30 at New Delhi.

UNNAO WIN

Unnao defeated Hardoi Cricket Associatio­n by 58 runs in a league match of the Under-16 Inter-District Cricket Tournament, at the Northern Railway Stadium here on Wednesday. Vimal Kumar scored run-a-ball 44 with the help of five fours. Prasgant Srivastava took 4/14, whereas Abhishek Gupta had 3/23, and Ismail claimed 2/22. In reply, HCA got out for 75 in 23 overs. Krishnesh Chaurasia took 3/10, whereas Gazi took 2/3.

UPP WIN

UP Police scored a thumping seven-wicket win against Jyoti Cricket Club to collect full points in the B division cricket league, at the Jaipuria School ground here on Wednesday. Chasing 160 to win in 40 overs, UPP romped home in 24.2 overs. In other match of the day, Unity Cricket Academy beat ASG by two wickets.

BSNVI IN SEMIS

Shivam Pandey struck an unbeaten 87 in 39 balls with the help of 14 fours and two sixes as BSNV Institute made it to the semi-finals of the C division cricket league, crushing Lucknow Cricket Foundation by 10 wickets, at the Pt Raas Bihari Tewari Stadium here on Wednesday.
