‘18 infectious diseases under surveillance’
LUCKNOW: Director of the Centre for Disease Control Dr SK Singh said here on Friday that apart from the centre in New Delhi, district level surveillance centres had also come up and at present 18 different infectious diseases were under surveillance in the country.
Soon, 33 diseases in the country would be under surveillance, he assured.
Dr Singh was speaking on the second day of the three-day national review meeting for integrated disease surveillance project (IDSP).
The focus of the conference (which was inaugurated on Friday) is on discussing integrated disease surveillance in different states. On Friday, the participants discussed data management and its analysis.
Dr Mithlesh Chaturvedi, director, infectious diseases and Dr Vikasendu Agrawal, joint director, infectious diseases, presented the health geographical information system and gave details of its functioning.
During the conference, officials from different states shared how disease surveillance worked in their respective states and also exchanged ideas for improving the system.
Earlier, principle secretary (medical health) Prashant Trivedi had said in the inaugural session that efforts were being made to check vector-borne diseases and results had also come.
He had said that despite a large population, health services had reached rural pockets in the state, as per the priority of the government.
On the third day, experts from various states will share results of the successful projects implemented in their states.
