GORAKHPUR : The Pandit Nagva village, a small hamlet under Gagha police station here, was in a state of shock after the news of death of one of their own, BSF trooper Rakesh Yadav, reached on Sunday morning.

Yadav posted in Maguruli border outpost in Unakoli district of Tripura along with two others was killed allegedly by his fellow trooper, Shishupal, who later committed suicide on Saturday night.

Though an altercation between Shishupal and the three deceased is said to be the reason behind the incident the army is yet to give an official version of what led to the tragic incident.

Thirtysix-year-old Yadav, a son of retired rail employee Ram keval Yadav, had joined the force in 2009 and was posted as constable with BSF battalion B55 at Kolkata before being transferred to Tripura in 2015. He had last visited his native visit last December.

“A call from Tripura army camp in the morning informed the family member about the tragic incident .The entire family, including his wife and parents are in a state of shock,” said Vishnu Rai, a neighbour.

Yadav was youngest among three brothers and was a role model for youngsters who wished to join the army, Rai further said.

Yadav’s elder brother Tarakeshwar Yadav is practising doctor in Kolkata while another is an agrarian in the village, Rai said. Yadav is survived by his wife Seema and a four-year-old son. Officials said the body was expected to arrive on Monday.

“We are awaiting call from home ministry in this regard after which cremation with full state honour will be done by the administration,” said DM Vijyendra Pandian .
