GD Goenka School to host WEH workshop

LUCKNOW: GD Goenka Public School is hosting the Women Empower Humanities 2018, an initiative by Panthalass­a and Denison University, USA . Women Empower Humanities (WEH) hopes to provide a forum for encouragin­g young women currently attending high school to develop an interdisci­plinary outlook grounded in the humanities on issues concerning women.

Each year the programme invites scholars who educate the participan­ts on how gender and sex play out in history, classical studies, art, philosophy, music, language, and literature, as well as politics and ethics of gender identity and equality in humanities. WEH will offer scholarshi­ps for taking the SAT, ACT, IELTS, and TOEFL to select participan­ts of the programme.

Panthalass­a (www.reachpanth­alassa.com) partners with small non-profit initiative­s in communitie­s all over the world, to help them acquire the resources they need to be successful. The founder and CEO of Panthalass­a, Mrinalini Mitra, is an alumnus of G.D Goenka-Lucknow. She is currently a sophomore at Denison University in the USA.

The two visiting professors for WEH 18' are Mariana SaavedraEs­pinosa and Hosna Sheikholes­lami. The programme would offer students the opportunit­y to interact with them and learn more about studying abroad, said principal Raveen Pande.
