Soon, hire cabs while booking train tickets

LUCKNOW: To ensure ‘last mile connectivity’ to train passengers, the Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) is poised for a tie-up with cab service providers.

IRCTC officials said they were in touch with Ola cabs to execute this project .

“Passengers can book both train tickets as well as taxi from IRCTC Rail Connect app and website and enjoy end to end transportation service,” said an IRCTC spokesperson.

He said the project had been launched with the ride sharing company as a six-month pilot project, enabling commuters to book an Ola cab on IRCTC Rail Connect app and website.

The tie-up is expected to further enhance the mobility experience and provide a one-stop solution to commuters on its platforms.

He said the commuters would be able to book a wide range of serviceslike rail ticket, book meal for train travel, air ticket, tourism packages and cabs.

The Ola cab facility will provide all the services offered such as Ola Micro, Ola Mini, Ola auto, Ola share etc. on the same price available directly on the IRCTC Rail Connect App and website.

He said the passengers could choose to pre-book cabs up to 7 days in advance or on reaching the railway station.

In addition, IRCTC outlets at railway stations or Ola’s selfserving kiosk would also enable commuters to book cabs.

While explaining the procedure, he said one should log in to IRCTC with one’s credentials, click on the services section, select ‘book a cab’ and book the preferred mode of commute and confirm.
