Mayank shines in school football tourney

A solitary first half goal by Mayank helped CMS, Aliganj score 1-0 win against Army Public School to make it to the under-14 final of the SAJS Football Champions Trophy, at the Seth Anandram Jaipuria School (Alambagh Campus) here on Friday.

Mayank struck in the 31st minute from the right flank and ensures team’s thrilling win. The second semi-final too witnessed some thrilling moments before Chiranjeev Bharti School brushing aside DPS Eldeco 5-3. Priyanshu and Hari Mohan shared four goals between them, whereas Saksham had one.

Earlier in the under-16 semifinal, Jagran Public School beat DPS Jankipuram 3-2. Sarvesh, Shivansh and Aakash Yadav were the scorer for the winners.

OPEN CHESS

A two-day open chess tournament begins on Saturday, at the Avijai Chess Academy here. The tournament will be played under Swiss system and FIDE rules in six rounds.

ACA PLANS

Allahabad Cricket Association (ACA) has decided to conduct senior division league in memory of MR Shervani, whereas the junior division league would be played in memory of Ravi Varma and Manish Deb/Skand Gupt. ACA’s meeting also appointed Akhilesh Tripathi, also the chairman umpire/scorer subcommittee as the incharge of senior league cum knockout matches from the session 20182019.

It included Saleem Ahmad, Rajat Yadav, Ankit Tewari, Aloke Singh and Sushil Ojha in the senior selection panel, whereas Anurag Srivastava, LB Kala, Tahir Abbas, Balram Singh and Raza Ali have been inducted in the junior selection panel.

SUMMER CAMP

A summer camp for cricketers aged between 6 to 16 under the auspices of the Gulmohar Cricket Club begins on May 16, at the Mini Stadium here in Rajajipuram. Interested must report at the venue.
