NEW DELHI: In a major bureaucratic reshuffle, the centre on Friday cleared appointments, including secretary level positions, of 24 senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers.
Some of the significant appointments include that of senior IAS officer Amit Khare, known for unearthing the ~950 crore fodder scam that ended in conviction of former Bihar chief minister Lalu Prasad.
The 1985-batch Jharkhand cadre officer will now be posted as a secretary in the ministry of information and broadcasting on superannuation of IAS officer NK Sinha, read an order of the ministry of personnel, public grievances and pensions.
Senior IAS officer Anup Wadhawan has been appointed as a secretary in the commerce ministry.
He will take over in his new role on superannuation of Rita Teotia, on July 31, the order said.
Among other appointments cleared by the appointments committee of the cabinet includes that of Dr MM Kutty, who will take over as secretary in the ministry of petroleum and natural gas on superannuation of IAS officer KDTripathi.
Kutty was principal secretary to former Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit.
He had also been finance secretary in the present Aam Aadmi Party government led by Arvind Kejriwal. Kutty, the special secretary in the department of economic affairs, will take charge from Tripathi following the latter’s retirement on June 30, the DoPT order read.
Atanu Chakraborty, a 1985batch IAS officer of the Gujarat cadre, was appointed as secretary in the department of investment and public asset management.
According to the order, Rina Ray will succeed Anil Swarup as secretary in the department of school education and literacy. At present, she is the special secretary in the department.
