Unbeaten India get set for Korea

The Indian women’s hockey team will take on hosts Korea in its last roundrobin match at the 5th Women’s Asian Champions Trophy here.

The team led by defender Sunita Lakra remains unbeaten in the tournament, having won against Japan (4-1), China (3-1) and Malaysia (3-2).

While playing the World No.9 side in their home ground will be a challengin­g affair for the Indian team, it will serve as an ideal preparatio­n for the Final on Sunday where they will play Korea who have won two matches (3-1 against Malaysia, 3-1 against China) and drawn one (1-1 against Japan) in the roundrobin stage.

BOXING TEAM TO BE OUT NEXT MONTH

NEW DELHI: The Indian boxing team’s selection for this year’s Asian Games will be completed by the end of next month after an assessment of the pugilists’ internatio­nal performanc­e and trials would be held only if it is

too close to call in any weight category, High Performanc­e Director Santiago Nieva revealed today.

“The selection committee will meet on June 26 to discuss and finalise the squad. However, in case of weight categories which are too close to call, trials would be held, for women on June 28 and men on June 29,” Nieva told PTI after a meeting with the Boxing Federation of India (BFI).
