Maya to shift in private house in same locality

LUCKNOW: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati will vacate the 13 Mall Avenue bungalow allotted by the Estate Department and shift to a private house located in the Mall Avenue locality,” a party leader said. The bungalow will remain as Kanshi Ram Vishramala­ya Sthal but she will not reside in it, he said.

LUCKNOW: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati will vacate the 13 Mall Avenue bungalow allotted by the Estate Department. “She will shift to a private house located in the Mall Avenue locality,” a party leader said. Mayawati is among the six former chief ministers who have been asked by the estate department to vacate the bungalows within 15 days in pursuance of a Supreme Court order. The notice sent by the Estate Department was received by her staff on Friday.

“The 13 Mall Avenue bungalow in which ‘behanji’ resides has been rehabilita­ted into Manyavar Kanshi Ram Vishramala­ya Sthal that includes a library and museum. Mayawati resides in a few rooms of the Vishramala­ya. In view of the Supreme Court order, she has decided to vacate the rooms and shift to the House number 9 located in Mall Avenue,” A BSP leader said.

The bungalow will remain as Kanshi Ram Vishramala­ya Sthal but she will not reside in it, he said.

A senior government officer said during the BSP government (2007-12) the 13 Mall Avenue allotted to the BSP chief was converted into a memorial, which has some residentia­l area occupied by BSP chief and her staff. Security has been deployed around the bungalow since Mayawati has been staying there. If she shifts to a private house then the security will be deployed accordingl­y.
