LUCKNOW: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati will vacate the 13 Mall Avenue bungalow allotted by the Estate Department. “She will shift to a private house located in the Mall Avenue locality,” a party leader said. Mayawati is among the six former chief ministers who have been asked by the estate department to vacate the bungalows within 15 days in pursuance of a Supreme Court order. The notice sent by the Estate Department was received by her staff on Friday.
“The 13 Mall Avenue bungalow in which ‘behanji’ resides has been rehabilitated into Manyavar Kanshi Ram Vishramalaya Sthal that includes a library and museum. Mayawati resides in a few rooms of the Vishramalaya. In view of the Supreme Court order, she has decided to vacate the rooms and shift to the House number 9 located in Mall Avenue,” A BSP leader said.
The bungalow will remain as Kanshi Ram Vishramalaya Sthal but she will not reside in it, he said.
A senior government officer said during the BSP government (2007-12) the 13 Mall Avenue allotted to the BSP chief was converted into a memorial, which has some residential area occupied by BSP chief and her staff. Security has been deployed around the bungalow since Mayawati has been staying there. If she shifts to a private house then the security will be deployed accordingly.
