Identify, sack tainted cops, lekhpals: CM to officials
VARANASI: Expressing his displeasure at the complaints of alleged extortion by some police personnel and lekhpals, chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday instructed senior officials to identify such tainted employees and sack them.
“There are complaints of extortion by a few police personnel at police stations and certain lekhpals. Such complaints are continuously pouring in. Identify such police personnel and lekhpals and dismiss them,” Yogi said.
Yogi issued these instructions in a meeting at Circuit House where he reviewed development projects, law and order in the region.
“Ensure strict action against those involved in exploitation of public. There must be action against such people,” the CM said, instructing officials to take action against such police personnel who allowed entry of heavy vehicles to roads where it was prohibited.
‘NO TEMPLES WILL BE DAMAGED FOR KASHI CORRIDOR’
Chief minister Yogi Adityanath has assured seers and people of Kashi that temples coming on the way of Kashi corridor—a corridor between Kashi Vishwanath temple and the river Ganga—will not be broken. All heritage of Varanasi will be preserved, he added. Kashi Vishwanath Corridor Project is an ambitious project of the Centre that aims at creating a pathway to provide clear view of famous Kashi Vishwanath temple from ghats.
‘ENSURE SAFETY MEASURES IN ROB CONSTRUCTIONS’
Chief minister Yogi Adityanath said on Sunday construction agencies should ensure that all safety measures were followed in under construction ROBs (road over bridges) across the state. He said senior authorities of construction agencies should personally ensure and monitor implementation of the safety measures. “Wherever ROBs are under construction, all safety measures must be in place,” Yogi said.
BHU INCIDENTS
The CM expressed concern over recurrence of incidents of stone pelting, violence and growing factionalism among the students in recent past on BHU campus.
He instructed district administration officials to hold meeting
with the varsity administration and ensure that such incidents didn’t occur in future. The CM also instructed police personnel to do foot patrolling.
He said investigation in 458 cases pending with police should be completed fast.
