LUCKNOW: “Stay indoors this weekend”. This is the one line advisory issued by the weather department in Lucknow on Friday.

It comes on a day when Lucknow, at 43.4 degrees Celsius, recorded the hottest day of the season. The Friday temperature was four degrees above normal, said the weatherman while predicting heatwave-like conditions for another few days.

Not just Lucknow, the heat wave conditions are very likely to prevail at isolated places all over the state, said the Meteorological Centre, Lucknow.

Allahabad and Taj city Agra were hottest in the state with day temperature recorded at 45.4 degrees Celsius (four notches above normal) at both the places.

While Jhansi sizzled at 44.2 degrees, Fursatganj 43.8 degrees, Varanasi at 43.7 degrees Celsius, Churk recorded 43.4 degrees.

The forecast for the state capital is mainly clear sky with maximum and minimum temperature hovering around 43 degrees and 27 degrees Celsius respectively, said met director, JP Gupta.

“It is increasingly becoming difficult these days to live in the state capital. Day has become absolutely unbearable,” said Priya Khan, a fashion designer, who works in Bengaluru.

“The frequent power cuts in La Touche area, where we live, have made life miserable,” said Ankita, BA 2nd year student.

The worst sufferers are those who are keeping Ramzan fast. “Fasts are a spiritual experience and are manageable even in extreme weather conditions like this but power cuts make live just miserable. I urged the power department to make special provisions for ensuring uninterrupted supply at least during the fasting period,” said Tariq Ali, a resident of Old Lucknow.
