24hour attendant service for patients at this hospital

-

LUCKNOW About 60% of elderly patients coming for treatment do not have an attendant to take care of them while they are admitted to a hospital. Reason: Their kids are settled out of the city/country and are unable to rush for an emergency.

“This is becoming a phenomenon in nucleus families as kids go out for better jobs. Whatever may be the level of facility, an attendant is still required to take care of patients when they are admitted to a hospital,” said Dr Madhulika Singh, director, Mayo Medical Centre while announcing free attendant service for all patients.

The hospital will provide one attendant (trained caretaker) to all patients free of charge so that jobs like getting medicines from the pharmacy or submitting samples can be done without the family members having to move away from the patient.

“All this work will be done by the 24-hour attendant provided by the hospital, hence the family members will stay near the patient. We believe it will be a great help for patients living alone in the city or those who are elderly,” said Dr Singh.

“All our doctors agreed that if the family members are free from such work they can take better care of the patient, hence we decided to start this first-ofits-kind facility,” said Snigdha Singh, administrator of the hospital.
