LUCKNOW: Identification of beneficiaries of the Ayushman Bharat scheme began in the urban pockets of the state capital on Sunday.

MLA Neeraj Bora launched the programme by filling up details of 8 beneficiaries at a function held at the urban health centre in Hussainabad.

Ayushman Bharat is a National Health Protection Scheme, which will cover over 10 crore poor and vulnerable families (approximately 50 crore beneficiaries) to provide a coverage of up to ₹5 lakh per family per year for hospitalization.

It will subsume the Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana (RSBY) and the Senior Citizen Health Insurance Scheme (SCHIS).

The beneficiaries of the scheme will be identified from 110 nagar nigam wards, 7 cantonment wards and 100 other wards of town and nagar panchayat areas.

The details needed to avail the scheme are a verified mobile number and ration card.
