FIR AGAINST PARKING LOT CONTRACTORS

LUCKNOW: An FIR has been lodged against parking lot contractor Jitendra Kumar Misra and others for charging fee from threewheelers at the parking lot allotted recently near the Awadh crossing.

The FIR, lodged at Manaknagar police station on May 26, states that the three-wheelers running on the route from Dubagga to Nahariya have been stopping and boarding passengers at this crossing since years and there has been demand since long that the Nagar Nigam allot this place for three-wheelers or ‘auto stand.’

A case had been lodged for illegal extortion of money and voluntarily causing hurt, said SK Kushwaha, police officer of Manaknagar police station.

“There was no point in allotting a parking lot when all threewheelers pick up passengers from there. Also the demand to allot the place for three-wheelers has been there since years. Then making it a parking lot is pointless,” said Pankaj Dixit, president of the Lucknow Autorickshaw Three-Wheelers Sangh (LARTS) that has been spearheading the demand that the place be allotted for three-wheelers.

He said that the parking was allotted for four and two wheelers but when the three-wheeler drivers objected to fee a new board came up which included threewheelers.
