Cycle rally for a fitter, cleaner tomorrow

LUCKNOW : Cycling enthusiast took out a rally here on Sunday to promote healthy living and fitness awareness.

The rally titled ‘Cycling with me’ started from Kapoorthal­a crossing at the crack of dawn and culminated at the historic Roomi Darwaza.

According to the chief organiser Jayanti Srivastav who led the rally, the fitness ride started in 2016 to motivate people to cycle for better health. Sunday’s event marked the second anniversar­y of the group, said the organisers. Over 70 people of all age groups. from kids to sexagenari­ans participat­ed in the rally with enthusiasm, sporting yellow T shirts and raining the slogan, “Dharti ko garmi se bachana hai to cycle chalana hai (Need to cycle to prevent earth from heating up),” as they covered the five km distance.

The award fro best decorated cycle was given to Dr Tanuj Mathur. Prableen Kaur was declared cyclist of the day, while Rajiv and Neetu Arora were selected a the ‘most attractive cyclists. The awards were given by Laltita Pradeep, joint director, basic education. “Cycling is the most inexpensiv­e and eco-friendly way to remain healthy, specially for woman who neglect their health most,” she said, adding that such events should be organised regularly.

A brand new cycle was awarded to Dr Deepak Singh. Krishnanan­d Rai, a social activist, recited a poem .
