₹21k crore cane dues cleared during BJP rule, says Adityanath
KHEKRA (BAGHPAT): Chief minister Yogi Adityanath assured farmers on Sunday that his government would ensure payment of sugarcane dues.
Addressing a gathering at the inauguration of the eastern peripheral expressway in Baghpat district, Yogi said that over ₹21,000 crore cane dues had been cleared during the BJP rule in the state. “It was pending for years,” he said. Remembering former PM Charan Singh, who had a wide appeal among farmers, the CM said that ₹400 crore had been spent on expanding the Ramala sugar mill to benefit cane growers. He also assured that the mill’s crushing capacity would be doubled over the next two years.
“Under the directions of Prime Minister Modi, development of villages and farmers is being undertaken without any discrimination,” said Yogi, adding that his government was committed to providing employment to the youth and security to women.
DELHI-SAHARANPUR ROAD WILL BE DECLARED NH: GADKARI
Addressing people on the occasion, union minister of road transport and highways Nitin Gadkari said that the Delhi-Saharanpur road would be declared a national highway and would be extended to connect till Dehradun. He said its bypass would be pass through Shamli.
“We are working to transform the Prime Minister’s dreams into reality by constructing projects such as the eastern peripheral expressway and the DelhiMeerut expressway,” said the minister, adding that the DelhiMeerut expressway would be completed by 2019. “It will reduce commuting time between the cities from four hours at present to just 40 minutes,” he said.
Speaking about the newly inaugurated eastern peripheral expressway, Gadkari said that the 135km expressway connecting Kundali, Ghaziabad and Palwal was made at a cost of ₹11,000 crore, and was being developed as a green highway.
“The expressway was supposed to be completed in 910 days, but was made in just 500 days. Around five lakh tonnes of cement and one lakh tonnes of steel were used in its construction. And over 2,500 engineers and more than 5,000 workers toiled hard to complete the project in record time,” said Gadkari.
He also said that replicas of national monuments had been erected on both sides of the expressway.
“These will help introduce commuters to our country’s culture and history,” he said.
