85yr old arms dealer dies at Balrampur hosp

LUCKNOW: A former airline employee, Allwyn D’Sa, 85, lodged in Lucknow jail, who was arrested by the UP ATS from Dadar, Mumbai, in April 2013, on charges of smuggling spare parts of arms from Singapore and selling them to arms mafia in Uttar Pradesh, died at Balrampur hospital here on Monday.

Allwyn was brought to Balrampur hospital on Monday morning after he fell sick .

Lewis, a cousin of Allwyn, arrived from Mumbai after he got informatio­n about the death of his brother.

According to cops, the UP ATS in coordinati­on with the Dadar police, Mumbai, had arrested Allwyn from his residence at the Salvation Apartments, Agar Bazar, Dadar (West) on April 30, 2013.

Cops had recovered 239 bullets from the apartment and several spare parts of pistols.

The former airline engineer used to smuggle spare parts of pistol and guns from Singapore.

He used to bring spare parts of revolvers and pistols from Singapore, where they are available in the open market.

The UP ATS had also arrested Mohammad Khalid from Unnao and Junaid and Kalu Sharma, who assembled pistols after receiving spare parts from Allwyn.

These pistols were sold to naxals, said cops.

After his arrest, Allwyn was languishin­g in Lucknow prison.
