LUCKNOW: A man allegedly killed his relative after the latter’s son attacked his pet dog in Bareilly district on Wednesday, police said.

Superintendent of police (rural), Bareilly, Satish Kumar said, “The victim Sarvesh Verma was allegedly attacked by his relative Brijpal Verma (44). The incident occurred after Sarvesh’s son hit Brijpal’s dog. Sarvesh and Brijpal were cousins,” he said.

According to police, Sarvesh’s minor son hit Brijpal’s dog which was barking near the cattle shed. Enraged over this, Brijpal started abusing the boy leading to an argument between him and Sarvesh.

Sarvesh’s family informed the police that the argument soon escalated into a scuffle and Brijpal attacked Sarvesh with sticks and pelted him with bricks.

Sarvesh was rushed to the district hospital where he succumbed to injuries.

His body was sent for postmortem examination.

Police have lodged an FIR against Brijpal under Section 302 (murder) and other relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. “Investigation into the case is being handled by a team of Bhamora police,” the SP said, adding the police were waiting for Sarvesh’s post-mortem report.
