Top UP players confirm playing in AITA Talent Series tourney

LUCKNOW : With prevailing hot and humid conditions set for a slowdown next week due to the rains, the Uttar Pradesh Tennis Associatio­n would give a chance to young tennis buffs to showcase their talent at the AITA Talent Series, starting Monday, at the hard surface of Vijayantkh­and Stadium here.

The five-day main draw ends on June 8, but before that twoday qualifying rounds in both under-14 and under-16 categories of boys and girls, will take place on Friday and Saturday.

A number of ranked players from Uttar Pradesh are expected to participat­e in the event. They include, Vansh Yadav, Daksh Kumar Singh, Mohit Mishra, Shubhendra Bhadauriya, Amol Kumar Cheema, Sajal Kesarwani, Pushpuinde­r Shiwal, Siddharth Gautam, Sasa Katiyar, Yati Besain, Gargi Das and Avishi Saxena.

“It’s a good opportunit­y for youngsters to raise their ranking by showing well in the event,” said Vijay Pathak on Thursday.

The sigining in will also take place on Friday.

FINE VICTORY

Divyansh Pandey took three for 23, whereas Kishan Tewari slammed unbeaten 84 in 98 balls with the help of 10 hits to the fence as Dhruv Cricket Academy Blue scored a comprehens­ive six-wicket win against Young Challenger in CAL’s Under-14 Cricket League, at the Jaipuria Ground here in Alambagh on Thursday. In other match of the day, Kalpana Cricket Foundation beat K Sports Blue by 47 runs, at the Pt Raas Bihari Tewari Stadium.

THRILLING WIN

Elina Cricket Club scored a thrilling five-run win against NDBG in a league match of the Panthers Cup Twenty20 Cup, at the NER Stadium here on Thursday.

Saurabh Bhalla struck 78, whereas Harshit Yadav made unbeaten 63 as ECC scored 182/4 in 20 overs while batting first after winning the toss. In reply, NDBG despite having a good start could make 178/8.
