LUCKNOW : Former chief minister Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday took potshots at deputy chief minister Dinesh Sharma, targeting his recent statements in which he equated ‘Narad Muni’ to internet and said that Sita’s birth from an earthen pot proved the existence of test tube baby technology during the ‘Ramayana’ era. “It seems we will have to change the name of internet to Narad cable now,” said Akhilesh during a ceremony organised to felicitate the toppers of Lucknow Public College in Gomti Nagar.

LUCKNOW: Former chief minister Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday took potshots at deputy chief minister Dinesh Sharma, targeting his recent statements in which he equated ‘Narad Muni’ to internet and said that Sita’s birth from an earthen pot proved the existence of test tube baby technology during the ‘Ramayana’ era.

“It seems we will have to change the name of internet to Narad cable now,” said Akhilesh during a ceremony organised to felicitate the toppers of Lucknow Public College in Gomti Nagar.

To recall, earlier this week, Sharma had equated Hindu mythological character Narad Muni with the online search engine Google. He had also said that Sita was the first test tube baby.

The former CM said, “These people (BJP) have dishonoured Sitaji by saying this. I cannot even repeat what they have said about Sitaji.”

The Samajwadi Party (SP) president also went on to rebuke the opposition for making cow an issue. “Samajwadi people talk of development and growth, but cow is the only issue for these people (BJP),” he said, adding that the public was being divided on lines of caste and community.

Speaking about the recent bypolls in Kairana and Noorpur, where BJP candidates were defeated by a united opposition, Akhilesh said, “People of Kairana, Noorpur, Gorakhpur and Phoolpur have realised BJP’s lies. People in other parts of the country are also realising this, and are ready to correct their mistake in the next election.”

He also said that while BJP spoke of a digital India, it had not distributed any laptops. “We distributed over 18 lakh laptops to toppers. BJP must tell how many laptops they have distributed in their regime,” he said.
