IGNOU STARTS SWACHH BHARAT INTERNSHIP IN VILLAGES
LUCKNOW : The NSS Unit of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), regional centre, Lucknow started different activities related to cleanliness in its adopted village – Bindova and Atrauli, Mohanlalganj, Lucknow under Swachh Bharat Summer Internship–2018. NSS volunteers along with the villagers cleaned the panchayat bhawan, madhyamik vidyalaya, temple and chaupal located in the village. An awareness rally was also organised.
Manorama Singh, regional director, regional centre, Lucknow informed about the importance of cleanliness and hygiene to the villagers and volunteers. She also informed about the courses offered by IGNOU related to health and hygiene. Under the leadership of regional director, the villagers and volunteers took a pledge related to ‘swachhta’. She said that IGNOU with the help of its study centre would try to spread awareness about different schemes offered by the Government of India to its beneficiaries.
Kirti Vikram Singh, assistant regional director and programme coordinator informed in detail about the features of Swachh Bharat Summer Internship 2018. He said that those volunteers who have enrolled themselves for internship have to perform 100 hours of swachhta related activities between May 15 to July 31. Certificate of appreciation will be provided to the volunteers, who successfully complete this Internship.
