ALIGARH : Uttar Pradesh director general of police (DGP) OP Singh on Saturday stressed on early complaint redressal by police. The DGP also claimed that the crime rate in western Uttar Pradesh had fallen. Vice chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University met the DGP during his visit and discussed various issues.

The DGP had reached Agra on Friday night and after staying at the circuit house, he left for Aligarh on Saturday morning.

Speaking at the Aligarh Police Line while flagging off the Police Response Bikes and Leopard Bikes, he said, “The UP Police is on way to becoming a hi-tech force and 4,000 police response vehicles (PRVs) have been allocated to different districts. The focus is on reducing the response time in case of complaints and there is a marked improvement. The response time has declined,” he said, while informing that 1600 police response bikes were also being allocated to different districts in the state.

Singh was optimistic that more use of motor bikes would bring down response time to 10 minutes. The DGP also honoured 18 cops from PRVs for efficient working and awarded brave girls. He was all praise for ASP Neeraj Ghabana’s idea of training 150 girls in self defence.

Later talking to newsmen, DGP claimed fall in crime in western Uttar Pradesh.

“Constant reviews are being made and meetings are held with district police official to maintain peace and harmony,’ he said, denying any pressure tactics on police by elected representatives.

Vice chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University Tariq Mansoor also met the visiting DGP and discussions were held on the recent incidents in AMU but not much was divulged.
