PM to interact with beneficiaries of cheaper stents, medical devices
GORAKHPUR: Prime Minster Narendra Modi is scheduled to hold a video conference on June 7 with patients who have benefited from the reduced prices of coronary stent during surgery and devices used in knee replacement.
The health department in Gorakhpur is set to send a list of 20 such beneficiaries to the Uttar Pradesh government for their inclusion among those who will get the chance to share their experience with Modi.
Similarly, seven people from Maharajganj district have been selected and asked to ensure their presence in the video conference
with Prime Minister on June 7.
Chief medical officer Shrikant Mishra said: “A list of six people having availed the benefit of sharp cut in prices of stent has been sought from each district in UP. They will attend a video conference by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who will talk to them randomly to know their experience. As more people have shown interest, a list of 20 people will be sent from here to the government for further action.
Mishra said details were also sought about the beneficiaries’ age, date of operation , the hospital, and the total expense incurred on surgery. The prices of coronary stent, which were sold earlier at high prices of over Rs 1 lakh, were lowered to just Rs 31000 soon after BJP-led NDA Government came to power .
