‘Be ready for tougher games’
MUMBAI: India blanked Chinese Taipei 5-0 in the Intercontinental Cup opener here and chief coach Stephen Constantine said everything clicked for them.
Skipper Sunil Chhetri scored his third career hat-trick as India started their campaign on a rousing note. Constantine, however, cautioned his players not to get carried away with the result. “We had a good game but we cannot get carried away. We have much tougher games coming up against much stronger opponents,” Constantine said.
India will next play Kenya on Monday which will be skipper Chhetri’s 100th international appearance.
LAHIRI MAKES CUT; SHUBHANKAR EXITS
DUBLIN: Anirban Lahiri overcame bad putting to compile a three-under 69 and made the weekend cut comfortably at the Memorial Tournament here. Lahiri is now four-under 140 through 36 holes and is tied 35th.
However, Shubhankar Sharma exited with an even par second round.
GLOBAL RUNNING DAY ON JUNE 6
NEWDELHI: The Athletics Federation of India (AFI) will organise ‘Global Running Day’, an initiative of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF), on June 6. Delhi is one of the 24 cities spotted across the globe by IAAF for the event. The 1.6km event will start at 4.30 pm from Rajghat. Former 400m champion and international runner Paramjeet Singh is named brand ambassador.
