Sewing machines, books distributed in roza iftar
LUCKNOW: A one of its kind roza iftar was organised in Bhadoura, Malihabad by Ashar Khan, a social worker on Wednesday. Khan not only made food arrangements for the needy on the day but also distributed sewing machines among women, books among local children and planted 1,000 saplings.
Khan said the iftar was organised under the drive—Ramzan ke 30 din, neki ke 30 din’.
Another mega iftar— ‘Iftari for All’ was organised by Naheed Hussain in the state capital on Wednesday. Naheed and her core committee members distributed around 3,000 food packets in Balrampur Hospital and Trauma Centre to serve rozedaars. They also offered food to non-Muslims in the hospital.
AMBER MOSQUE IFTAR
People associated with the Amber Mosque, near Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGI), have also been organizing iftars where food is served to the poor and the needy.
“During Ramzan, we ensure special iftar arrangements for the attendants of patients admitted to the SGPGI, irrespective of their sect and gender. We make such arrangements for non-Muslim attendants as well,” said Shaista Amber, president of All India Muslim Women Personal Law Board (AIMWPLB).
She said the mosque served as an example of Hindu-Muslim togetherness as many non-Muslim personalities made frequent visits to the mosque to spread the message of brotherhood and peaceful co-existence.
“We have been making such arrangements since 1998. In 2008, Shia cleric Kalbe Jawad too offered namaz in the mosque. We have always promoted ShiaSunni bonding and will continue to do it in the future as well,” she added.
On Wednesday too, Amber organised a grand iftar for the attendants at the PGI.
