LDA to take action against illegal restaurants running in houses
LUCKNOW: The Lucknow Development Authority has decided to take action against illegal restaurants and hotels running from residential places in Gomti Nagar and other parts of the city.
The development authority has identified more than 100 such illegal restaurants and hotels.
Of late, the development authority has been flooded with complaints related to restaurants running in residential houses. Most of these complaints are from Gomti Nagar. Vishwa Bhushan Mishra, LDA officer, said more than 100 restaurants and hotels running illegally from residential houses had been identified in Gomti Nagar and other parts of the city and all such buildings would be sealed, .
A famous eating point at Patrakarpuram in Gomti Nagar is one among the restaurants identified by the development authority. In Vivek Khand area, the development authority has identified a hotel and a restaurant. Both of them are being run from residential places .
“Restaurants and hotels running from residential places are creating lot of problems for locals. There is no parking space , resulting in traffic jam on the main road where customers park their vehicles,” said an LDA official. The development authority has identified restaurants running illegally from residential houses In Vastu Khand, Gomti Nagar, too. .
“It is not as if the LDA has never issued notices to these restaurants. Time and again notices have been served to such illegal food joints and hotels, but in vain, ” said an LDA official.
Proprietors of these illegal restaurants have continued with their business, in defiance of the LDA’s notices. “Restaurants are being run from residential places all over the city, especially in Gomti Nagar. Such illegal activities pose a lot of problems for people living in these areas,” said an LDA official .
After the Yogi government came to power in the state , the LDA has launched a drive against illegal structures. The development authority is sealing all under construction buildings which are being constructed in violation of building norms.
Last year, LDA had revoked its earlier decision of permitting change of land use from residential to commercial to 58 influential people of the city.
