Mankameshwar temple to organise grand iftar today
LUCKNOW: In a clean break from tradition, one of the oldest and most famous temples of Lord Shiva, Mankameshwar temple is going to organise a grand iftar, greeting rozedaars in a big way.
It would be for the first time in the temple’s history that an iftar would be organised. The decision has been taken to send a strong message among the masses, especially in times of growing communal discord .
The historical roza iftar would be organised on Sunday. The temple management has invited the students of neighbouring Nadwa College. Other than the students, it has also invited the teachers and other associates of the college. “Generally Muslim organisations and NGOs invites me for iftar. A random thought came in my mind that why can’t I organise an iftar too. Hence we decided to organise an iftar this Ramzan,” said Mahant Divya Giri, mahant of Mankameshwar temple. The temple management has invited teachers and students of Nadwa college.
She said the aim behind organising the iftar on temple premises was to bring both the communities together and to spread a word of communal harmony among the masses.
She said the temple management had also invited other clerics of both the sects and had made all possible arrangements to make the iftar a success. The temple management has made arrangements at the ghat.
“We have prepared lunch packets with dates, sweets, juice and snacks. We have also sent invitation to Hari Masjid, Dariyawali Masjid and others to be a part of the iftar,” she added.
