LUCKNOW: Lucknow Montessori Inter College, established by the great revolutionary Durga Bhabhi , with foundation laid by Pt Jawaharlal Nehru , is under threat of being razed by criminals and land sharks enjoying the patronage of a few education department official and some politicians, says the college management.

In response to the call given by the present management to save this institution. former students of the college, teachers and members of civil society gathered at the Shaheed Bhagat Singh auditorium in the college on Sunday to discuss the issue and seek support from all well wishers of the college.

Naveen Tewari, chairman of the managing committee and trustee, apprised the gathering about the genesis of the problem.

Without mincing words, he squarely blamed an education department official of masterminding this crisis and conniving with the outsiders who came out of nowhere to stake claim to membership of the general body on the basis of fraud and misrepresentation .

He also outlined in brief the philosophy and thought of Durga Bhabhi behind setting up this school.

Pramod Srivastava, a senior trustee of the parent body of the college, spoke about the need to bring about a change the system of governance.

Mridula Bharadwaj stressed the need to introduce novel ideas and creativity in the school to distinguish it from other schools.

Eminent theatre personality Suryamohan Kulshreshth said that it was our bounden duty to save the legacy of Durga Bhabhi.

Social worker Ram Shanker Yadav, former principal AB Singh, former student of the college Dr Devendra Negi , Saurabh Yadav and Ravindra Singh Bisht also shared their views and vowed to save the college .

A peace procession was taken out after the meeting with a plan to reach Gandhi Pratima but due to heavy police bandobast it was not allowed to move further on the pretext of no prior permission from the district administration .

The chant of ‘Durga Bhabhi amar rahein’ and ‘School ko bachana hai badmashon ko bhagana hai ‘, rent the air as the gathering dispersed with a resolve to keep the fight going.
