Elderly woman found dead in mysterious circumstances

LUCKNOW : A 74-year old woman was found dead at her residence in Indira Nagar late on Wednesday evening in mysterious circumstances. The deceased was identified as Krishna Varshney.

The incident came to light when the maid, Neha, reached the house in Sector -11, Indira Nagar here in the evening to do the daily household chores. The victim was a widow and at the time of incident, her son Nitin, who works with the LIC, was not at home and his wife had gone to her parent’s house in Aligarh.

According to cops, when the maid reached Varshney’s residence on Wednesday evening, she found the door open. After entering the house, the maid found Krishna lying dead.

“The maid ran out of the house and closed the door. Thereafter, the maid went to the neighbour’s house and informed them about the incident. Few people of the colony went to Varshney’s house to verify the incident and after that they informed the police,” said Sujeet Kumar Rai, SO, Ghazipur police station. After getting the information, Nitin also reached home. “The house was ransacked but nothing was missing. May be the assailants had to leave the house in haste,” said Rai. An FIR had been registered against unidentified persons, he added.
