Govt, BJP hit out at SP chief
LUCKNOW: The Yogi Adityanath government and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) both launched a simultaneous attack on Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav soon after he had accused the state government of engaging in a witch hunt against him on the bungalow issue.
Minutes after Yadav’s press conference, the BJP readied another media briefing by health minister and party spokesman Sidharth Nath Singh. He denied Akhilesh’s charge that officials of the chief minister’s secretariat and OSD to the CM had visited the bungalow once Yadav vacated it.
The minister made it clear that the estate department, which is getting an inventory done on all the properties that were in possession of former chief ministers, will take action as per law.
“No bureaucrat visited his bungalow. The videography of the bungalow vacated by SP chief was done by the estate department. The truth is that he tried his best to stay in the bungalow till his last and later left the house in bad taste,” Singh said.
“Akhileshji says he heavily invested in the government bungalow,

which he was asked to vacate as per an SC order. Does the investment reflect in his income tax returns? Even walls of the house have been damaged. He must tell what was hidden behind the walls,” Singh asked.
The UP minister also questioned Yadav’s take on governor Ram Naik. “The governor is the constitutional head of the state. Akhileshji should have at least kept the dignity of the post in mind before making such remarks,” he said. UP BJP spokesman Chandramohan too targeted the SP chief. “Akhileshji stooped to a new low that wasn’t expected of a former CM,” the BJP leader said.
