LUCKNOW : Chief minister Yogi Adityanath said coordinate­d efforts by the central and state government­s will assist in solving people’s problems and take to the new heights of developmen­t. Adityanath was speaking at the fourth meeting of the Niti Ayog governing council held under the chairmansh­ip of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Sunday. People familiar with the matter said the PM appreciate­d the chief minister for his achievemen­t on various schemes.

It was necessary to equip farmers with new agricultur­al techniques in order to double their income by 2022, he said.

Twenty new agricultur­e science centres and 100 agricultur­e welfare centres were being set up in the state to achieve the target, he said. Stressing on the welfare of cane farmers, the chief minister said the state government had cleared sugarcane arrears of Rs 32,940 crore.

As many as 86 lakh small and medium farmers benefitted from the loan waiver scheme for which the state government earmarked Rs 36,000 crore in its annual budget, he said.

The state government launched a drive for wheat and paddy procuremen­t, transferri­ng Rs 6663.32 crore directly into farmers’ bank accounts, he said.
