LUCKNOW : For the first time after the bungalow controversy, Governor Ram Naik and Samajwadi Party national president and former chief minister Akhilesh Yadav shared the stage, greeting people at Eidgah on Eid-ul Fitr on Saturday. Standing next to each other after the Eid prayer, the two waved to the massive crowd.

To note, Naik had written a letter to chief minister Yogi Adityanath on June 12, asking the state government to take action against former chief minister Akhilesh Yadav over reported damage to the bungalow he vacated . Naik called it a serious matter involving the taxpayer’s money.

Yadav had vacated the bungalow following the Supreme Court order that former UP chief ministers must vacate government bungalows in Lucknow.

The Samajwadi Party had termed the controversy as an attempt by the ruling BJP to tarnish Yadav’s image after the ruling party got a drubbing in recent bypolls in Uttar Pradesh.

It was in this backdrop that Naik and Akhilesh Yadav met at the Eidgah. As usual, chief minister Yogi Adityanath did not turn up at the Eidgah like last year. On behalf of the state government, deputy chief minister Dinesh Sharma arrived at the Eidgah to greet people on Eid-ul Fitr.

Cabinet minister in the state government Rita Bahuguna Joshi and Mayor Sanyukta Bhatia and Mahant of Mankameshwar temple, Divya Giri, were also at the Eidgah to greet people .

MINISTER RITA BAHUGUNA JOSHI AND MAYOR SANYUKTA BHATIA WERE ALSO PRESENT .
