KGMU team visits village to probe mystery fever
LUCKNOW: A team of doctors from King George’s Medical University visited Amwa Murtajapur village in Nagram on Sunday to study possible reasons for the mysterious deaths that took place here recently.
The team led by Prof SN Sankhwar, chief medical superintendent of KGMU, studied the pattern of health problems and the deaths that occurred here. “We intended to find out how the deaths took place,” said Prof Sankhwar.
The team also took samples from the villagers, particularly those who had lost a family member recently. The tests on these samples will be conducted by the department of microbiology.
In past one week five people , including four children, died after suffering from high fever but the cause was not known. In the past 24 hours, 10 fresh fever cases were reported at the community health centre of Nagram. Apart from ensuring health facilities at the community health centre, the health department has also made temporary arrangement at a primary school for treatment of villagers.
Anjani, 28, Laxmi, 12, Prem, 48, Sundara, 60, Priyanshi, 7, Shilpa, 23, Nisha, 30, Indrana, 70 and Divyanshi, 6 months, reported at the health centre a day before and Preeti, 17, Ruchi, 16, Sneha, 13, Seema Devi, 20, Shyama, 78, Vimla, 30, Rukmini, 30 and Kailash, 48 reported later. Suchena, who was unconscious when she arrived at the health centre, was referred to the trauma centre.
