‘READY FOR PROBE BUT WILL FILE DEFAMATION CASE’

-

GORAKHPUR :Refuting charges by suspended paediatrician Dr Kafeel Khan that he planned the attack on his brother Kashif Jameel on June 10, BJP MP Kamlesh Paswan on Sunday said he was ready for any probe but would file a defamation case against the doctor.

“Charges levelled against me by Dr Kafeel, who himself is a controversial person, are totally baseless and an attempt to come into limelight by accusing a politician like me,” Paswan said on Sunday.

“Ever since Congress president Rahul Gandhi has extended support to him, he is accusing us in a planned manner,” the MP said.

“He has demanded a CBI probe and I am ready for it,” he added. Hitting back at Kafeel, Paswan said: “He is an accused in BRD tragedy. He is also an accused in a rape case. His brother Kashif Jameel had implicated two persons, including a 60-year-old woman, in a case of attempt to murder by shooting himself in the leg.” He alleged Kashif was wanted in 10-12 cases of land grabbing.

“I have a list which shows that Kafeel and his brothers Kashif and Adeel have grabbed land in the city under the SP government. When the victims approached the police to lodge complaints, they were also implicated in false cases,” Paswan said.

He said earlier too Kafeel had charged him with land grabbing but he remained silent thinking it was a cheap publicity stunt but had to issue a statement as the case was related to Section 307 (attempt to murder) of the IPC.
