VARANASI: Dubbing coming together of opposition parties as an ‘alliance of opportunists’, UP BJP president Mahendra Nath Pandey on Sunday said it will not have any impact on the next year’s general election as the opposition parties lack a ‘sarvamanya’ (consensus) face for the PM’s post while the BJP has PM Modi.

Pandey was in Varanasi for the party’s ongoing ‘Sampark for Samarthan (contact for support) campaign. He said the public knows well that the opposition parties don’t aim to provide good governance. “Instead, these parties are coming together to stop Narendra Modi from becoming PM in 2019. It is an opportunistic alliance,” Pandey added. He further said the Centre was focused on the welfare of people. “State and party are working to extend benefits of various government schemes to the people,” he claimed. Pandey said the Yogi government had drawn a blueprint for constituting a Vyapari Aayog (traders’

He also indicated the PM’s rally in Azamgarh in July. Under ‘Sampark for Samarthan campaign’, Pandey also called on noted sitar maestro Pt Shivnath Mishra late on Saturday evening. He presented him a booklet comprising details of developmental work carried out by the Centre in last four years.

Pandey spent over half-anhour with the maestro and sought his support for the BJP’s 2019 mission.
