Brother duo held for elderly woman’s murder

LUCKNOW: Two brothers, who had executed a large number of robberies across the city and were also involved in the recent murder of a septuagena­rian woman in Indira Nagar, were arrested from Munshipuli­a crossing on Monday.

The arrested duo were identified as Vineet Mishra, 21, and his younger brother aged around 15 years – natives of Lakhimpur Kheri. They were working as electricia­ns at an electrical goods shop. They were staying at Omkarpuram in the state capital.

The cops recovered Rs 12,000, large number of gold and silver ornaments from the two brothers. On June 13, the two brothers had allegedly killed Krishna Varshney, 74, at her residence in Indira Nagar.

“Some time back, Vineet and his brother had visited Krishna Varshney’s house at Sector 11, Indira Nagar for installing an inverter. On June 13, the two brothers went to her house again on the pretext of checking the inverter and carried out the robbery. Thereafter, they killed the lady,” added the SSP.

The surveillan­ce team of SP, Trans Gomti, led by sub inspector Ajay Prakash Tripathi, also played a major role in the breakthrou­gh.
