5 markets to get facelift under smart city project
BEAUTIFICATION PLAN Traders under the banner of Lucknow Vyapar Mandal meet LMC officials to plan the makeover
LUCKNOW: Aminabad, Chowk, Alambagh, Bhootnath and Nakkhas markets would get a facelift and developed as smart markets under public private partnership.
Traders of these markets, under the banner of Lucknow Vyapar Mandal, met LMC officials led by additional municipal commissioner Anil Mishra on Monday to plan the makeover under the smart city scheme.
The meeting was chaired by mayor Sanyukta Bhatia.
The traders assured to work with the LMC to develop five smart markets under five Vidhan Sabha constituencies under the smart city scheme, said Mishra, adding that traders would share the responsibility of maintenance once the markets are beautified.
The Lucknow Vyapar Mandal appointed Abhishek Khare as their representative to coordinate with the authorities for
the development of smart markets in the city.
All these markets would have better parking space, restricted squatter areas, toilets for males and females, dustbins at every 100 metres, fire fighting hydrants, and better solid waste management.
The traders of Yahiyaganj demanded construction of underground parking lot at Navbharat Park and a toilet for traders.
At present, there is no parking space for the vehicles of traders and customers, which is
hitting the trade in the area.
Mayor Sanyukta Bhatia said, “The markets would be developed and beautified with the help of traders. They can help the LMC in identifying the areas for construction of toilets. But the LMC would like that the group of traders should maintain the toilets like in other countries. The parking in the area could be constructed but the traders will have to ensure that vehicles are not parked on the road or in front of their shops. They will have to ensure parking inside the parking lot.”
