Publicise govt policies: CM to BJP workers
GHAZIABAD: During his meeting with the western UP MPs, MLAs and district presidents of the Bharatiya Janata Party, chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday asked them to gear up for the 2019 general elections and also to ensure that the central and state government policies reach the poor, women and the youth.
During the meeting at RKGIT College in Ghaziabad on Monday, Adityanath said policies should be properly publicised to citizens and any work that has been left out should be communicated to the government so that it can be taken up.
“The CM has asked party workers to publicise policies. There are people in remote areas who think that LPG cylinders are being given to them by the village chief or the local councillor. People should know that it is being provided under a government scheme and not by any individual,” Dr Manju Shiwach, Modi Nagar MLA, who attended the meeting, said.
She said that after the loss in Kairana and Phulpur Lok Sabha bypolls, there was also stress on increasing the BJP vote share as it has more or less remained the same. In Kairana, the opposition had put up a joint front against the BJP.
“The CM has also asked us to hand over a list of works which have been left out and can be taken up under the state or central schemes. He has also asked us to work hard at the booth level in order to increase the party’s vote share,” Sunil Sharma, BJP MLA from Sahibabad, said.
Yogi, during an interaction with mediapersons, concentrated on the work done for farmers, the backward castes and the poor.
Western UP is traditionally known as the sugarcane belt and pending payments to farmers is perceived as a major issue.
“We opened three closed down sugarcane mills and completed the expansion plans for two major sugar mills at Ramala and Mohiuddinpur. While only ₹5,000 crore were paid to sugarcane farmers in 2016-17, we paid ₹12,000 crore this year. Due to our loan waiver scheme, nearly six lakh farmers have benefited in the divisions of Saharanpur, Moradabad and Meerut,” Adityanath said.
He also focused on villages having a majority SC/ST population.
“We covered 4,487 such villages under Phase 1 of the Gram Swaraj Abhiyan. During the second phase, from June 1 to June 15, we covered 12,000 of 13,500 villages.
We implemented the Central schemes here,” he said.
