Police recruitment test: STF busts gang of solvers, nabs 23
MEERUT: A day after 11 people were arrested from Gorakhpur and 8 others in Allahabad for providing solvers to facilitate cheating in police recruitment examination, UP STF on Tuesday arrested 23 solvers from Kankerkhera area of Meerut on Tuesday.
Following directives by additional superintendent of police (STF) Alok Priyadarshi and circle officer Brajesh Kumar, a team led by inspector Dharmendra Yadav arrested the gang’s kingpins Shakeel and Yunus, residents of Kuradi village of Bagpat, their aide Rahul of Panipat in Haryana and 20 solvers hired to impersonate for the examinees.
The team recovered Rs 10.8 lakh cash, 43 admit cards, 26 mobile phones, three cars, a laptop, a printer and solved question papers of Monday’s examination from the accused.
Circle officer Brajesh Kumar said a case had been registered against the arrested gang members. Police said the arrested members revealed that they had been running the gang of solvers for various competitive examinations for years. They revealed

that for the police recruitment examination, the gang had fixed the rate of Rs 8 lakh from each interested candidate and hired solvers for Rs 2 lakh each.
According to police, the gang
had experts who matched photos of interested candidates with solvers so that examiners could not suspect them.
On Sunday, UP STF had arrested at least 11 people from Gorakhpur while Allahabad police nabbed 8 others who were out to facilitate cheating by using hi-tech gadgets in the police recruitment examination. The two-day examination, which began on Monday, was conducted by the UP Police Recruitment Board at 860 centres in 56 districts to fill 41,520 posts.
