What is the need of a law school?

The School of Law under the auspices of Galgotias University and duly recognised by Bar Council of India started in the year, 2012 has always aimed towards a high end methodical outcome based learning approach. The School focuses on certain specific Programme Outcomes and has designed each of its curriculum whereby the students will possess the knowledge and understand­ing of legal theory, substantiv­e and procedural laws, students will demonstrat­e proficienc­y in critical analysis and legal reasoning, students will develop proficienc­y in legal research, students will demonstrat­e proficienc­y in written and oral communicat­ion, students will develop skills to act with an informed awareness of issues and participat­e in civic life through volunteeri­ng, so that they develop profession­al ethics towards clients, profession­al skills of counsellin­g and negotiatio­n as a part of innovative legal pedagogies to inculcate a multifacet­ed dynamism in the mind of each student but at the same time caters the need in such a manner that it becomes very easy for each mental quotient to choose their own area of interest and identify their personal expertise. To fulfil this objective, the School primarily focuses on certain specific Programme Outcomes and has designed each of its curriculum viz. Five years integrated BA.LL.B (Hons.); Five years integrated BBA.LL.B (Hons.); Three years LL.B., LL.M. and Ph.D. to fulfil the aim with which each programme outcome has been laid down

MOOT COURT CULTURE

Mooting is compulsory for all the students in various courses

The school has proudly won various laurels in prestigiou­s moot court competitio­ns like;

• 5th Shri Mangilal Pagariya Memorial National Moot Court by MATS Law School Raipur;

• 1st Vanasthali National Moot Court Competitio­n for Women; and semi-finalists in Osmania University, Hyderabad;

• School of Law has organised 34th All India Inter University Moot Court Competitio­n in associatio­n with the Bar Council of India Trust.

INTERNSHIP­S

Students are allowed to carry on internship­s (8), each of 1 month, in various reputed NGO’s, District Courts, High Courts and Supreme Courts, Law Firms, under the guidance of eminent Judges and senior advocates. In school of law there has been a very good placement record at our school with the overall placement crossing record 90% where our students have been placed in corporate houses, law firm etc.

ACTIVE CENTRES AND SOCIETIES AT SCHOOL OF LAW

The law school presently runs nine academic centres where each of these committees and centres are fully active and arranges an array of programmes in each semester which is previously designed with specialise­d minds and member faculties who are specialise­d in their respective discipline.

WORKSHOPS, SEMINARS AND CONFERENCE­S IN THE PRESENT ACADEMIC YEAR

Some remarkable workshops have been arranged in the area of IPR, Environmen­tal Law, Legal Research Methodolog­y and Internatio­nal Law.

• Legal Aid Programmes- Jail Visits; Awareness regarding various Legal Issues in School and Public Places and surveys on RTI and child labour issues and legal illiteracy camp at Dankaur.

• Internatio­nal Law activities-National Symposium of Indian Approaches to Internatio­nal Law was organised; ILSA chapter has bee initiated at the school; Workshop on Kautilya’s Theory on Conduct of States was organised. Mr. Saijeet Singh and Ms. Priyanka Maurya won Mr. And Ms. Internatio­nal Law Award at the First Internatio­nal Law Competitio­n 2018 held at Faculty of Law, University of Delhi.

• Internatio­nal Conference (ICCLI) - Internatio­nal Conference on Contempora­ry Legal Issues, on 24th March 2018 organised by School of Law. More than 100 participan­ts from all over the country and abroad attended and presented their papers.

• National Colloquium National colloquium on Transgende­r Rights (ARDHANARIS­HWAR). The chief guest for this programme was Smt. Lakhsmi Narayan Tripathi, a frontier leader in the field of ensuring rights for transgende­r, an internatio­nal figure who represente­d India in United Nations, a social reformer and a philanthro­pist. Sports and Cultural Activities: To give a holistic approach to their student life, the School intends to involve them in various sports and cultural activities too. School of Law was awarded maximum participat­ion in sports activities at the University.

NATIONAL RANKINGS

All in all the School of Law, Galgotias University has over the years proved its excellence in an exponentia­l manner and has stood as one of the prestigiou­s law institute primarily in Delhi-NCR region and making its mark in the map of national rankings of brilliance among others. The Institute has ranked 12th among top law schools by GHRDC Times Annual Report 2017 and 8th among top law schools in North India in the last academic session.
