GORAKHPUR : Ahead of PM Narendra Modi’s public rally on June 28 in Maghar (Sant Kabir Nagar) where the famous 15th century poet Kabir breathed his last, chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday held a meeting with senior BJP leaders to review preparations for the event.

Besides BJP MLAs and MPs, union minister of state for finance Shiv Pratap Shukla also attended the meeting for the programmes to mark the 620th birth anniversary of the poet saint.

The CM asked MoS (finance) Shiva Pratap Shukla, Sank Kabir Nagar MP Sharad Tripathi and Sahjanwa MLA Sheetal Pandey to ensure that river Ami be cleaned up to 4 km as PM Modi was expected to attend an aarti on the banks of the river which flows along Kabir’s mausoleum.

Yogi also asked public representatives and party workers to ensure that the beneficiaries of various central and state government welfare schemes attend the PM’s rally in large number.

He asked the leaders to rise above caste and religious lines and stand by the deprived people. “When you stand by them, they will support you in the elections,” the CM said.

“Unlike previous government which extended benefits of government schemes to people by asking their caste and religion, the BJP government has given benefit to those who were eligible for it regardless of their caste and religion,” Yogi said.

The CM asked the public representatives and party workers to reach out to the people and inform them about the achievements of central as well as the state government.

“In Mainpuri, the stronghold of Samajwadi Party patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav, only 600 people benefited under the Pradhan Manri Awas Yojana under the previous government. This figure rose by 10 times to 6,000 during the BJP regime.
