IIITA TO INTRODUCE YOGA COURSES FROM COMING SESSION

ALLAHABAD : Two courses in yoga and meditation will be introduced by Indian Institute of Informatio­n Technology, Allahabad from the coming academic session, said an official.

“The two courses would be available as ad-on courses,” said Prof P Nagabhusha­n, director, IIIT-A during the fourth Internatio­nal Yoga Day celebratio­n held in main auditorium of institute’s Jhalwa campus on Thursday morning.

He laid emphasis on tolerance, acceptance and patience in every one life.

The day began with a talk on “yoga: the success mantra” by Sharda Dwivedi, internatio­nal faculty, Art of Living. She said yoga was not only practice of asanas but to realize the one’s fullest potential. Yoga has multiple skills to lead a happy and calm life, she added.

Later, several asanas, including vrikshasan, tadaasan, cat stretch, pawanmukta­san, dhanurasan, naukasan, surya namskar, nadi sodhan, pranayam besides meditation were practised.

A group of IIIT-A students, including KK Yadav, Divya, Shreyansh, Abhishekra­j and Ajit Deb presented a perfect blend of yogic asanas.

Pankaj Mishra, a yoga expert, talked about role of mediation in one’s life.

A meditation entitled panchkosha was conducted by him. Seema Shah, joint registrar proposed the vote of thanks.

Nearly hundred people attended the session in the morning.
