Meditation helps students improve concentration

-

LUCKNOW: Vishwesh Tewari, a Class 8 student, often engaged in arguments with his classmates, but he overcame this temperament after completing a four-day meditation and yoga camp organised by Seth MR Japuria School.

“After including yoga in my daily routine, I was amazed at the change in my behaviour in a very short span,” said the student.

Vice-chairperson of Integral Education Society, Anjali Jaipuria conducted a major part of the fourday session. Ipshita, a student of Class 7, held that yoga helped boost her concentration power. “I’m able to focus better at whatever I am doing and don’t get distracted easily. For two minutes after every period, we are made to meditate and that is all that I do in the name of yoga. But, that in itself has been extremely beneficial,” she said.

Seth MR Jaipuria School conducted a one of its kind camp from June 18 to 21. In the words of Anjali Jaipuria, “The camp envisions helping the students find a sanctuary of wisdom, strength, harmony, and perfection within themselves.”

Yoga, she believes, is the amalgamation of various asanas and meditation in the attempt at achieving spiritual unity with the Supreme, and the school aims to inculcate this routine in the daily habits of its students for their holistic growth.

As many as 65 children enrolled for this camp. “It has been extremely therapeutic and helped relieve and cope with all the stress in my mind,” said Ayushi Tripathi, 13. Sarthak Agarwal credited yoga for helping him become more decisive.

“Because I meditate on a regular basis, my thought process has matured. I am now better at decision making,” he said.

Pratham Vir Singh claimed to have become more spiritual ever since he started practising yoga.
