‘Global city region’ for UP proposed
LUCKNOW: Uttar Pradesh government wants to create a ‘Global City Region’ out of Noida, Greater Noida, Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) and Ghaziabad Development Authority.
The idea is to strike a coordination among the masterplans of the four authorities for integrated development of the region and remove administrative hurdles and make the four authorities to contribute to a proposed Global City Fund. The fund will aid the four authorities whenever any of them need money for development.
Infrastructure development commissioner (IDC) Anup Chandra Pandey said this would aid synergetic development of the region. IDC will be the coordinator for the Global City Region of UP. Chief secretary Rajive Kumar held a meeting on Thursday, which was attended by all the four authorities’ CEOs and senior officers of the department of urban development, housing and industrial development, to discuss the proposal.
Sources said Rajive Kumar at
the meeting said first of all possible aspects of the Global City Region project be studied. Some other departments like finance, planning, law, urban development, housing, industrial development
too will work on the proposed project.
States of Haryana, Rajasthan, and Andhra Pradesh have already put in place such regions.
