LUCKNOW :A 17-year-old girl student of a polytechnic was murdered after being kidnapped from Ghazipur area on Thursday night.

She was found lying injured in a deserted ground near Ghaila bridge on IIM Road in Madiaon on Friday morning and was declared brought dead when rushed to KGMU trauma centre by the police.

Circle officer (CO) of Aliganj, Deepak Kumar Singh said the girl was identified as Ballia resident Sanskriti Rai who was pursuing a course in a polytechnic here and lived in a rented house in Sector 9 of Indira Nagar .

The CO said the girl went missing after she left her house to board a train for Ballia from Badshahnagar railway station. “One of her friends, who used to board the train with her, was waiting for her but she did not reach the railway station. Her friend boarded the train and left for her destination when she could not contact Sanskriti,” he said.

The CO said the victim’s maternal uncle lodged an FIR of her kidnapping at Ghazipur police station on Thursday night when her friend informed him about it.

“On Friday morning, some locals spotted the victim lying injured near a garbage dumping ground below Ghaila Bridge and informed the police. She succumbed to her injuries while being taken to hospital,” he said.

The CO said spot examination suggested that the assailants kidnapped her and brought her to the spot in a fourwheeler. She was dragged for over 25 metres before being left there .

He said the girl had a serious injury on the forehead , apparently caused by a blunt and heavy object.

Multiple injuries and bruises were found on her hands and face too, he added.

He said a police team had been sent to search her rented room to find some clue about the assailants.

Her mobile records and other details were also being scanned.

In a similar incident, unidentified assailants killed a 24-yearold woman Basanti by beheading her on the outskirts here on Thursday morning.

Her body was found in an orchard around 400 metres from her house in Bakshi Ka Talab while the head was recovered at some distance from the body.

The police have so far failed to make a breakthrough in this incident.
